Be that as it may, I’m eternally grateful for how organic this entire endeavor has been and I feel really fortunate to be able to work with someone who is so passionate, caring, and motivated about education. Who values self-care, friendship, fellowship. I’m super grateful to pursue these projects with someone wants to see me win and that I have the opportunity to reciprocate that energy to her. Autumn uplifts me on days where I’m just like why do I work in education, why am I willingly overworked, undervalued, and underpaid … and just all the whys.
I can keep going, but basically what I’m trying to say I’m in awe at this experience and how much Blackademia has changed my life this past year. The site has grown to be way more than I anticipated it would be, and we’ve collectively done so much in such a short time. From highlighting amazing Blackademics, having guest contributors during Black history month, hosting a brunch and school drive, and implementing a book club, Blackademia has developed well beyond just being a blog. I’m also excited about the year to come; we have lots of ideas and great things planned. Overall, I’m looking forward to sharing all of these experiences with you and hope that you’ll continue to take this journey with us, dialogue with us, and engage with us in the future.
